Hi james,

 >>>>>>>>>>>>Sidenote: The only point of interest for counting christmas
cards designed by primary school children: I form impressions of the
attitude of the teacher towards art. Some of the classes are really
expressive, bizzare, raw, and individual, while in others, blanket
uniformity: bright yellow christmas puddings, robins made of circles and
triangles, angels made of blue hand prints, etc.........

If we're getting in the mode festivity & pain at the moment. Perhaps I
should share this little morsle of childhood obliviousness.

It was my first (& last) attempt of trying to make some decent cash. The
plan felt big, as if it was an execution of pure genius.

At Easter, when I was about 7 years of age. For some reason got the
notion in my head that people would be interested in buying home made,
crafted easter eggs in 'authentic' nests. The nests were not authentic -
they were made out of straw...

So instead of doing anything easy, like make cute christmas cards I
decided create many painted eggs, and nests to go with them.

I would then them all home in a cardboard box. Late in the evening
around 11 at night I would escape through my ground floor bedroom
window, and then usually stand in the middle of the roadmaking sure that
vehicles would stop. Then I would try and sell the driver some of my
home made easter eggs & nests for 'two & a half pence' - some people
gave me money (and even took the product), and some asked if I had a home.

It worked out fine for a couple of nights - then a vehicle pulled up one
evening which turned out to be my father's. I must say, he did not
appreciate my business venture at all...

To this day, I still do not know what ever happend to those eggs?

marc
