Geert - I have no idea what 'art' is - I tend towards the notion of
'family of usages' since today any _particular_ purpose (religious,
manorial hangings etc.) holds only tenuously among somewhat small
demographics. That's one explanation why there are so many manifestos -
given an absence of steering mechanism, the corridors of power, such as
they are, seem up for grabs, and people are busy defining their 
territories...
