Html Patchwork

Hi Everyone,

I'm working as artist in residence at Access Space in Sheffield
developing a collaborative project between craftspeople and computer
programmers. We are working on an online and offline patchwork quilt
exploring the open source characteristics of patchwork and html.

The Html Patchwork visualises the hexidecimal web colour palette
based on a hexagonal mouse mat. The mat consists of 216 web-safe
colours and their six figure unique identification codes. The final
work will be a collectively stitched quilt of html colours and
embroidered codes. Each hexagonal patch is personalised by the sewer.

The Access Space foyer has been transformed into a design wall for
the Patchwork. Here you can see the progress of the quilt, view the
website and make your contribution. If you're in Sheffield pop in

The Open Source Embroidery exhibition at Access Space opens on Sat
8th September, and continues until November 10th. Preview Fri 7th
September 5.30-8pm.

Embroiderers, patch-workers, knitters and computer programmers are
invited to meet at Access Space to make the final patches and stitch
the quilt on:
Sat 8th Sept 2-4pm / Sat 6th Oct 2-4pm / Sat 10th Nov 2-4pm

The patchwork is being developed with Clare Ruddock and DAAMN in
Newcastle, and Access Space, Sheffield. Clare has recently run a
patchworkshop as part of the DAAMN residency at Gallery Glue, Newcastle.
