Have you read the fifth planet by fred hoyle?

a planetary system is discovered on a trajectory toward passing close by
earth. a group of astronaghts are sent to the fifth planet to
investigate.
they find a planet covered in green grass blues skies, and delusion...
combine with the box idea, technology, virtual reality, == firewall. is
that anywhere near your thinking?
