about
DIRECTOR: "....presented, in any order, presented, shown, not in the
order they were made. Not at all. Not all..."
AUTHOR: "Notes. And thoughts that occurred to me. Might BRUCE think
this? He might do that? Would VICKI be tainted by love. Would love
splash? Stain. Stain it might. S..."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (WHEN SHE DIED)
flash movie
VICKI: "When she died. When she died, for a long time, for a long,
long time, I stayed indoors. I grew white. I stayed indoors. I grew
white while I stayed indoors. I couldn't. Cope. I couldn't cope. With
being outdoors, I couldn't cope with the light. I ..."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (SPINE)
flash movie

NARRATOR: "Bruce is lying on his back, flat on his back, lying there,
feeling the hardness of the wood against his spine, through his summer
clothes he feels the wood press hard against his spine, he settles his
shouder-blades firmly against the surface, feels for his comfort. He
feels for his comfort."

AUTHOR: "All the while, he would be listening to Vicki. And talking to
her, and talking..."

NARRATOR: "As lovers do, unwittingly as he is lying, he, unwittingly,
he takes on a lovers' role, and in doing so, he says things, intimate
things..."

AUTHOR: "Indeed, he says too much, he says things unbecoming of the
situation, of his profession. He says those things, but is not as
ashamed as he thought he would be."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (FACTORY)
flash movie

VICKI: "Do you know Andy Warhol? Do you know who he is? Of course you
do. I've always wondered why he lived as he did, why he surrounded
himself with these would-be's, wannabe's and has-beens. I think about
that a lot, as I am mostly alone. I think he just wanted a family. He
wanted people to take care of. I really think that was his driving
force. He was always looking for broken dolls to fix."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (COMES TOGETHER)
flash movie
DIRECTOR: "Brian is lying as pictured, on his back, on the floor, on
the wooden floor, when, laying his head to the left, he notices a
slight metallic shimmer between the floorboards, and he realises, it
dawns on him, it comes to his attention, that this metal is copper,
that the floorboards are bonded together with copper bands. And then
he tilts his head slightly up, still holding his position, his
horizontal position he is holding, and his head tilting slightly
upwards..."
READER: "Yes, yes, I get the picture. Move on, move on"
AUTHOR: "Yes, please do... I know what he sees. He notices that the
legs of the chair end in a copper knob, and that this copper touches
the copper between the floorboards..."
READER: "And that what he thought was decoration, a single copper
thread running from the leg of the chair, running around the seat of
the chair, and across the backrest of the chair..."
AUTHOR: "...is actually become, of was planned as being, one pole of
the circuit..."
DIRECTOR: "Yes, and that VICKI, in her hand, has a switch, and the
cable running from the switch, across the table, down to the floor,
across the floor, into the wall socket is the other..."
AUTHOR: "...and when the switch is thrown, the poles will meet."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (AGAIN)
flash movie

NARRATOR: "Here we are, here we are again. And I'll say it again.
We're in a room, a large room, more than a room..."
READER: "Yes, yes, I know, we're in a gallery..."
DIRECTOR: "I had the camera mounted on a boom for this shot..."
VIEWER: "We see the gallery from above, almost as if we can look
through the ceiling..."
DIRECTOR: "Which is of course the absolute truth, as the set piece
representing the gallery has no ceiling..."
AUTHOR: "At a round table set to one side..."
NARRATOR: "...VICKI sits, holding a smooth white box in her hand..."
DIRECTOR: "And the camera moves into position here, moves into
position..."
READER: "We see the box quite clearly now, it appears to be some sort
of switch..."
VIEWER: "The box is almost translucent, but still entirely white,
exquisitely finished, a designer object..."
AUTHOR: "At this point I want the sound to come in, you know, the
background noise..."
DIRECTOR: "Noise?"
AUTHOR: "You know, the noise you hear when the microphone is on, but
no-one is speaking, s s.."
DIRECTOR: "Static?"
AUTHOR: "Yes and then we go to VICKI, we only see her lips, red lips,
red lips, move..."
VIEWER: "And..."

STUDY FOR A NARRATIVE, 2011, GALLERY PIECE (I HAVE OFTEN THOUGHT)
flash movie
VICKI: "I have often thought how I would wish to end my life and I
will tell you how. I would set myself down at the edge of a tall
building. And, for the longest time, I would look out over a darkening
evening skyline. Unseeing, unthinking, I would wait for the last
light, and then, as from an inner impulse, I would close my eyes, and
lower my head to my knees. And into the black I would fall."
