just caught up with chapters 3 & 4.
Tremendous stuff! Every bit as gripping as the first two, and wonderful writing for children ( & adults!) . Exciting and clear but without talking down in the least.. ( and so nicely written too - I love your Urizen corporation Christmas piece - it made me laugh out loud, as did the God-is-alive-in a-very-real-sense vicar)
I like this better than the much hyped Pullman ( who seems like a good egg, which makes me feel guilty that I found his trilogy imaginative but more than somewhat rambling and formless - so many dei ex machinis *sort of just about* holding together the ultimately rather ricketty structure)
Roll on your next chapter!

The children are kidnapped, then meet a visionary in a field of
skylarks, and hear a new story about the creation of the world. They
are pursued by baddies in black cars, who seem to be after the box.
