[This sci-fi short-story results of a partnership with the writer Valdir Medori, that wrote it after watching my Videoart "Upcycling"]

 
February 2, 1990 (the date is important). Dr. Pratt, a scientist whom I worked as an assistant in London’s Institute of Technologic Research, had invited me for a cup of tea, on that afternoon in his home.
 
I arrived at Five o’clock sharp. Dr. Pratt opened the door wearing a long orange pajama.
- Pardon my costumes. I was practicing Vedic meditation.
- I didn’t know you were keen of Vedic yoga.
- This is the key to the science, my boy!!! The key to the science… Coffee or tea?
 
We sat at his living room. The scientist was oddly euphoric and anxious, like he was trying to say something, but was looking for the right moment.  We talked about matters of work, problems at the laboratory and with much skill and tact, Dr. Pratt led the conversation to this subject:

- Boris Karloff. Have you watched the célèbre film “Frankenstein”?
- Of course, it’s a classic.
- But I bet you don’t remember the actor who played Doctor Frankenstein, do you?
- No, I really don’t remember… All that I remember is Karloff himself, playing the creature.
- Everybody only remembers the creature. Karloff was born to be the creature…
- Indeed…
- Do you believe that it’s possible to bring back to life a dead body, like on Mary Shelley’s history?
- Look doctor, facing all we’d studied and the experience we have in the lab, I think it’s very difficult. To be honest, I think it’s impossible.
- Indeed, that way which Doctor Frankenstein revived the creature would be impossible. 
 
The scientist stood up, and wrote on a small blackboard that he had hanged upon the wall.

Electric Energy # Vital Energy
 
- That is the question. Electric energy has nothing to do with vital energy.
- Naturally.
- However, the science doesn’t accept the vital energy as an isolated energy. There is no serious research about that matter.
- It’s indeed, a very controversial subject.
- There is nothing controversial about it. It’s very clear.
- I suppose the Vedic meditation had given you this clarity.
-  Absolutely. – He makes a sign with his head – Follow me.
 
I followed Dr. Pratt to his kitchen, where was an enormous freezer. He smiled:

- Please, open up that freezer.
 
When I opened up, let out a cry.

- Jesus Christ! What is this?
 
He calmly answered: 

- It’s Boris Karloff.
- I know, but… What is he doing on your freezer?
- He is there since February, 23 1969. Twenty-one days after his death I dig him out and, since then, I’ve long waited for this date.
- Today’s date? February, 2 1990?
- Exactly. Precisely twenty one years after his death. The Vedic meditation has given me a clear picture of how the vital energy behaves after one’s death. And most important how it comes back.
- Are you trying to tell me that you will bring Boris Karloff back to life?
- Exactly. I’ve been working on this project for over three decades.
- How?
- Follow my line of thinking: the vital energy comes and goes. In fact it goes and 21 years later comes back. I’ve found out – through meditation, evidently – that after this “dead” period in which the energy integrates a conglomerate formed by all the vital energies without a body in the universe, it bursts off and stays encapsulate during a period of 226 days, on a cubic fractal, until it’s released and reborn, on the form in which we know it.
- Reincarnation?
- That’s right. The vital energy leaves a body and comes back to another 21 years later.
- And during the period it’s without a body it’s integrates an energetic field?
- A cosmic conglomerate, until it bursts out and retracts inside a preparatory fractal to reincarnates.
- I see, but if things are the way which you’re telling me, there is another body waiting for Boris Karloff’s vital energy, isn’t it?
- Which unfortunately will come alive without life, if the conclusion of Upcycling project is a success.
- Upcycling project… Interesting name. And how will be the conclusion of this Project?
- Look. As I already told you, Boris Karloff’s vital energy is imprisoned on a cubic fractal waiting for the labor time.  There is a way to open up this fractal before the time, and opening it up, Bori’s vital energy will instinctively look for it’s previous body. If it doesn’t find, comes back to the cosmic energy, if it finds… Dr. Frankenstein’s dream will come true.
- And how this cubic fractal is opened?
- Through a tonal password made of voices received on the atmosphere. It took me years to decode this password and another eternity to capture the right tones that flows around our planet.
- Unbelievable.
- Can you help me with the preparation?
 
We took the actor’s body to Dr. Pratt’s meditation room. It was a circular room with some cushions on the floor. At one side, already installed, there was a tape recorder. My job was to operate the recorder. We set the body in the middle of the room. The scientist then sat in lotus position near Karloff’s head. Through meditation, the doctor would found out the fractal and his years would make a sound channel between the Vedic room where we were and the universe, reveling the key that would release the actor’s vital energy.
 
 We start. The doctor breathed slowly. He was on a trance. At one point, he made a small sign with his right index finger, it was the moment to activate the recorder. Incomprehensible voices started to sound off. Voices on many tones.
 
Password completed. Wait. Some minutes later Doctor Pratt comes back of his trance with a big smile.

- It worked? I asked.
 
The doctor didn’t answer, keeping his smile He Just pointed to the chin. Then I could see the eyes of the creature opening, slowly.  Boris Karloff was back to life.
 
On that February, 2 1990 the Upcycling project of reincarnation on the same body was born.
 
The tradition science ignores this experience.
 
 Boris Karloff lives today in Itaparica*. Works on a coconut water stand and is pretty happy.
                                                     
* Itaparica is a paradisiacal island located on the coast of Bahia, Brazil.
