A media arts project looking for alternative uses of mobile technology
to support immigrants facing the dangers of illegal border crossing.

If you have an old phone to give get in touch: contact at freemob.eu or send it to
FREEMOB, Centre for Cultural Studies
36 Laurie Grove, London SE14 6NW

Here is their call for old mobiles:

Rescue your old Mobile Phone and Reclaim the Waves!!!
Got one lying around the house? Don’t let it die of isolation!

Give us your old phone. It will be passed on to migrants at the edge
of the European Union. In turn, it will be your license to connect to
chronicles of an underworld located along the Mediterranean shore.

By sending us your old mobile phone, contribute to a media-art
project, which will engage Moroccan youth, Sub-Saharan migrants and
E.U. residents in a three-way conversation.

This project is a socio-cultural take on re-usable technology. Against
the waves that keep sweeping migrants off the European coasts, we will
use radio signals and microwaves to listen to their stories.
