Ah yes I remember doing that on a few tape-based games on the old Amstrad
CPC 464. Not a console but nevermind. Most games took to using
convoluted protection systems which counted the number of instructions
executed so if you changed anything you couldn't get in - these were
beyond me, but a few like "Super Robin Hood" by Codemasters, with the
help of cheats published in magazines, I managed to dig around in and
occasionally found hidden messages.
