hey,

look here: http://jwm-art.net/image/screenshot_emerald_xfce.png

it's a brand new exciting screenshot with loads of artistic merit to
cap it all off!

it was made by careful configuration of xfce, combined with compiz
fusion - used sparingly i might add - using the emerald window
decorator.

the careful configuration was carried out within an Arch Linux system.

it requires use of proprietary video drivers, but hey, it is running
on proprietary hardware.

in the top left you can see something which reminds one of a badly
H-positioned CRT display, but no, this is on an LCD and it's an XFCE
panel configured to only have 1% opacity until the mouse pointer rolls
over it.

unfortunately, there's a few glitches in the system as you might have
guessed from little more than a quick glance at the image:

the GIMP was loaded onto virtual desktop 3, while the screenshot was
taken on virtual desktop 2.

confusion occurred over which virtual desktop the snapshot was to be
of; some kind of obscure masking has taken place.

windows which can be (partially) seen are:

1) nedit (olive colour) - editing a C file called patch.c
2) petri-foo - completely blanked out
3) DevHelp - showing documentation for GtkFileChooser
4) xterm - showing console output from petri-foo
5) petri-foo sample editor - editing play/loop points of the default
sine waveform sample (generated, not a file)
6) various GIMP windows
