[NetBehaviour] All Your Data Are Belong To Us

Hello All,

I've been having trouble understanding Google's new privacy policy. Bet
you have, too.

In fact, I bet that 99% or more of people who pressed the "I Agree"
button either hadn't read the policy, or didn't understand it when they did.

So I tweeted, "I'm busy. What are #Google's new T&C in less than 140
characters?"

The best answer I got back was, "All your data are belong to us".

So then I got to thinking... Is it okay that it's standard practice for
companies to issue long, incomprehensible Terms and Conditions that
people don't read? Is that REALLY informed consent? Of course not. So
what is their new policy? And is it legally binding anyway - when most
people don't read it and wouldn't understand it even if they did?

Here's an artwork. It's generated by Wordle and it's the top 50 words
from Google's Privacy Policy.

It makes me think of "The Prisoner":

"We want information"
"You won't get it!"
"By hook or by crook, we will..."

Best Regards,

James
P.S. http://bit.ly/w6WrDh - Access Space is one of NESTA & The
Observer's "50 New Radicals". Nice!
