An interesting read from Miltos Manetas :

there is also an exhibition in Milan :
http://cargocollective.com/NEWPRESSIONISM/NEWPRESSIONISM-1 (very crowed
page takes lo,g to load)
I wanted to share this because I find it a refreshing approach.
"Ñewpressionism: the results of having constantly with us – these days – a
"spirit", living together with a smartPhone or a portable computer. Like
new Impressionists (or even Expressionists), through our "helper" we
rediscover nature (that's also double now: the natural world plus the
computer screen landscape). Most of us will exploit today's composite
nature through digital cameras, computers and social networks. Still, this
is only part of *Ñewpressionism*. After fifteen years of crude computing,
we are now looking for the inverse process: analogue approaches that bring
to mind computers. That way, we try to feel the "ñew" ((the ~ over the n
makes Ñewpressionism old in a whole *new* way) on what's now happening. We
start pinning down (on our perception? on our memory?) the robotic side of
human nature. Then, we can exalt our NOT robotic side, namely, *the
universal coincidence*."
All the best
Annie
