Hi Mayke,
Great to hear from you.
Recently we've had an influx of digital art students join the Netbehaviour
list. Currently there are around 850 users on this form allover the world.
Thankfully, the mixture of artists, techies, hackers, activists and
theorists frequenting the list are not conforming to one agenda. so, the
dynamics and discussions taking place change all of the time. Plus, newbies
are respected and supported here ;-)
Regarding your question on digital animations and paintings, do you know
about BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer)? If not, it's worth bexaming because it
can bring about the meeting of peers in a physical environment. "BYOB
(Bring Your Own Beamer) is a series of one-night-exhibitions hosting
artists and their projectors." http://www.byobworldwide.com
Wishing you well.

>Hi there,
>I am Mayke, a final year student studying fine arts in New Zealand.
>This year I have become very interested in digital arts and the digital
arts communities that exist online.
>Currently I make digital animations and paintings, and I re-present them
through projection installations.
>I wish to refine my work this year to emulate the experience of online
presence through a physically constructed environment.
>I'm not yet very confident in having a critical voice and I would
appreciate some advice as to forming an online presence.
>I am currently researching ideas around what impact of recent
technological changes has on art making and how this adds or alters the
interpretation of the work.
>Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
>Feel free to edit my enquiry to post back onto the netbehaviour discussion
list.
>Kind Regards,
>Mayke Blom.
