Hiif anyone is in the Hull/East Yorks/North Lincs area this weekend please see the info below about Kerry Baldry's One Minute Hull, Artists Moving Image Festival. -some of you might have seen her compilations at Furtherfield gallery. All 8 volumes of those are showing this weekend but there's a special new programme of films too plus lots of other stuff. I'm going as I'm doing a (very short) talk on the Friday but I'm looking forward to a rich feast of intersting work...cheersmichael

One Minute volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be screening on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th November
as part of a festival I am organising called the
One Minute Hull, Artists Moving Image Festival.
Volumes 1 - 4 on Saturday 7th and

On the evening of the 6th November
Martin Pickles from The London Animation Club will present ‘am1nation’
a programme of one-minute animations he has curated for the One Minute Hull Artists' Moving Image Festival.
The programme is a selection of contemporary British Animation and includes work by internationally-renowned filmmakers, including Joan Ashworth, Lizzy Hobbs, Tim Hope, Ruth Lingford, Phil Mulloy and the BAFTA Award-winning Jonathan Hodgson. It features a broad range of styles and genres, from experimental to narrative to comedy, with much in between.
Martin is the director of London Animation Club, a monthly screening event in the capital, and the majority of films in the programme are made by guests and regular members of the club. Sixteen of the films are premieres and nine of them were made especially for this screening,
Invited guest Michael Szpakowski will be also talking about the nature of One Minute artists film on the evening. Michael is an artist, composer & writer. His music has been performed all over the UK, in Russia & the USA. He has exhibited work in galleries in the UK, mainland Europe & the USA. His short films have been shown throughout the world. He is composer & video artist for Tell Tale Hearts Theatre Company & a joint editor of the online video resource DVblog.
The festival will continue throughout the weekend at venues including
The Museum of Club Culture (High Street), Hull’s Central Library, Studio Eleven Gallery and Thieving Harrys cafe/bar in Humber Street.
One Minute Hull, Artists Moving Image Festival is
anew 3 day Festival taking place Hull in East Yorkshire. Over 500 artists’ 1 minute videos will be screening
There will also be student and local community arts programmes from
Hull School of Art and Design and Bransholme Community Enterprise who have been producing one minute videos over the last few months.
