*DREAMS REWIRED* traces the desires and anxieties of today’s
hyper-connected world back more than a hundred years, when telephone,
film and television were new. As revolutionary then as contemporary
social media is today, early electric media sparked a fervent utopianism
in the public imagination – promising total communication, the
annihilation of distance, an end to war. But then, too, there were fears
over the erosion of privacy, security, morality.
Using rare (and often unseen) archival material from nearly 200 films to
articulate the present, DREAMS REWIRED reveals a history of hopes to
share, and betrayals to avoid.

film website

/“An extended look, sans nostalgia, at how we used to envision
ourselves and our future — and at how those of us alive now, at what
seems the apex of communication technology, will look to everyone
watching us in the future.” /Village Voice

/“Marvellous tech film full of where-did-they-get-that? imagery” /
    The Guardian

/“Dreams Rewired reminds us both that our current preoccupations
with fitting tech into our lives are nothing new and that something
strange and game-changing certainly awaits us right around the
    corner” /Hollywood Reporter

/“Dreams Rewired spins theories of mass communication mediated by
technological innovation in the most provocative ways, via a
fast-paced collage of hundreds of film clips, a mesmerizing score by
Siegfried Friedrich, and more provocative thoughts-per-minute than
any substantial filmed essay I’ve seen since Chris Marker”/
FANDOR’s Best Foreign Films of the Year 2015

/“Excerpts are unexpected, their arrangement thrilling, - but the
instinctual narration is what grips the viewer. It’s not just the
charismatic presence of Swinton, who is game for delicacy or comedy,
    but a finite wisdom.“/
