Grove snails at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge

These snails are of great interest; the grove snail or
brown-lipped snail has polymorphic coloration whose origin
seems to be problematic. They remind me of Everglades tree
snails, but belong to a single species. They appeared on a
number of plants, primarily a form of goldenrod.
We saw them a few days ago, returned to photograph them
today.
