Sounding kyizi - see setup
the kyizi rotates, changing phase and frequency (doppler)
the recorder is on the far side of the kyizi
i play shakuhachi on the near side of the kyizi
the recorder picks up shakuhachi through the rotation
the recorder picks up the kyizi
the subtle transformations are recorded
the spectra of the kyizi are recorded
in post-production everything is dropped two octaves
reverberation is added

the result is a complex sonic composition, mourning the
last day of my seventy-fifth year

i have never felt closer to death or more without community
