[NetBehaviour] Fwd: Human society under urgent threat from loss of Earth's natural life

Edward, What's infuriating, I was teaching this in 1970 or so. I wasn't
the only one of course. The information was there. Rachel Carson, Club of
Rome Report, Global Report for the Year 2000 and lots of other articles,
books. We knew it. Now more people are getting convulsed over the
situation. But as long as we have fossil fuels, people like Trump and
Putin and Xi Jinping and Maduro and god knows else beating their goddamn
chests and bullying the rest of the world, nothing's going to change.
These people would have done less harm in the paleolithic, but now they
can bring the whole planet down with them. Ugly people and all the protest
marches in the world aren't going to stop the buildup of fire power etc.
etc. I feel utterly hopeless about this. I keep talking publicly about
this whenever I can; at the same time I can't imagine it making a
difference, given the massive coagulations of money, firepower, and
digital despotisms wildly bullying at the top. Example: US sending
warships into Chinese territorial claims. Example Chinese territorial
claims. And so forth.
