Hi all,
I wanted to let you know about an exhibition we have opening this week at Phoenix. Thanatos<https://www.phoenix.org.uk/event/thanatos/> is a collaboration between artist Eric Fong, perfumer Euan McCall and forensic anthropologist Dr Anna Williams, whose research on the 400+ volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted during human decomposition underpins the project. It's a multisensory installation centring on Thanatos, an original perfume that evokes the scent of a decomposing body discovered in a woodland. The exhibition runs from Fri 10 Jan until Sun 23 Feb.
On Sat 1 Feb, 1.30pm<https://www.phoenix.org.uk/event/thanatos-panel-talk-workshop/> we are hosting a panel talk and workshop exploring the forensic research that underpins the Thanatos with the team behind the project.
If anyone on the list is midlands based, I'd also like to invite you to our regular artist meetup, FTP. The details for that are here https://www.phoenix.org.uk/event/ftp-artist-meetup/

It has been really good reading the discussion here on the list regarding current events. I've been reading Robert Macfarlane's Underland, and would really recommend checking it out - especially as we try to comprehend our impact on the world and identify ways of moving forward. (apologies if it's been mentioned in the list previously)
Best,
Mateus
