And the thing I really like about The Bron Knight is when she does the unexpected.
Leo turned to his assistant, actually a friend and accomplice, Archi.
What? Like what?
Archie was a small, quite muscly but rather ugly fellow with not a single tooth in his head - but a keen keen brain and that’s for sure.
Archi or Archibald, turned his gaze away from the draughting board upon which surface he was adding the details to what looked like a giant automatic ram-chariot-bathtub engine thingamy.
He glanced at L with a quizzical yet wise half-grin smeared across his gurning features. He half winked and popped a sherbet Dab in his shapeless mouth and puckered as the raspberry flavoured acid did it’s job.
Tell me more oh wise and talented one.
Ha ha - Leo couldn’t help but laugh as he proceeded to tell his friend what he meant.
Like for instance things like... she might be in the middle of battle. People on great cart horses, all done up in heavy armour. You know, the great iron shoes, breastplates, gauntlets and fishtail helmets with plumes, shields, heraldic flags, great red crosses, and then the swords, lances, daggers of every type. There’ll be blood all around - blood and guts and a great awful reek and shouting and mayhem and just total shit - chaos and all very masculine if you like.
Anyway old Bron will suddenly, right in the thick of it, leap down like a maniac - well, hard to leap actually in all that heavy industrial looking armour, rather she’ll slide off the old nag, and without a care or a glance she’ll start taking off the armour bit by bit - just throwing it down willy nilly.
First the breast plate, the arm guards, the shoulder pads, shin pads, the heavy steel chain mail underneath till she’s down to the under garment - some scarlet sack jerkin job. Then last off comes the helmet and then she might shake out the great head of hair which might be any colour - knowing her it could be anything from a deep dark crimson swath of flame to a blue white metallic cap of palest moonlight fire or maybe a strange green crewcut. She experiments.
So anyway when she’s done that - got rid of all the male trappings - she might remove same crap from the old horse, give the poor tired fellow a break.
Then she’ll just casually leap up on his back, mAybe saddle maybe no saddle, and then casual as feck, she’ll just either saunter right out of there without a backward glance or maybe tear up once and twirl on the charger, then grab a great flag and charge out of there, knocking soldiers and the lot out of the way.
And of course her mates and courtiers, fellow knights and wotnot, will have to do the same and also follow after - first having to either quickly finish off the adversary they might be engaged in deadly hand to hand with, or try to reason with them saying - no hard feelings pal, but shall we just call it a draw or maybe we could finish up another time? And it’s more than likely the Saracen soldier will probably reply with - yeah whatever - and that’d be that. Ha ha!!
They both laughed a lot at this, but L glanced across the courtyard and his friend followed his gaze. A lithe figure had just arrived on a
A great grey speckled horse.
Leo blinked and continued to gaze at the figure in scarlet as he patted his friends shoulder and started to move away saying
Err we can continue this later I have to be going right
Now.So if you will excuse me I must be on my way...
Yeah, whatever
Archi just grinned and turned back
To the details he was sketching on the cream
Parchment - three finches
Adorning a curly palm leaf
With six acrobats teetering
Along a tight rope stretched
Between high poles at either end of the engine.
He hummed under his breath a little sonnet
Oh hey nanny nanny noo
Alakazanthra jiggedy boo
Out popped a weasel
And god
Bless
You
Best indiscretions,
