New Bows

My favorite bows use "salt and pepper" hair - a combination of
the usual light hair, and thicker dark, almost black, hair. I've
used a salt and pepper bow on and off for years, but never one
with enough bite to work well with sarangi or Bedouin rababa.
Thanks to Morganeve Swain, of the amazing Huntress and Holder of
Hands band here in Rhode Island, I've had two bows rehaired on
order, with amazing bite.

The first part of the music is on the one string rababa - the
string is thick and played by pressing with the left hand
fingers, bowing with the right. The rababa is incredibly ancient
- one of the oldest string instruments in the world. It sounds
surprisingly like a cello. The second part is sarangi yet again.
For both I used a short bow; I'll move to the longer in time.
See the photographs.

I'm working through my own musics here, love the feeling of
playing with the instruments as somewhat ruly/unruly partners.
Hope you enjoy the results. (Reverberation added; otherwise the
sound is far too dry in our apartment.)
