it was a wonderful dream, comforting, my brother and i talking
softly to each other, he who has passed on farther than before
and now, not on those lakes, and we were speaking softly, and
comforting, the most loved of my relatives, and i was reading
slowly and telling him about william blake, and it was, did i
say loving, here now, so many years later, or were they, and we
were in pennsylvania and kind to one another, did i say that,
did i already say that, and it was so very loving among us,
among my birth family, among our home in kingston pennsylvania,
did i say that, and now, here, so old, waking in the cold,
azure, whom i love above all else, sleeping quietly in the next
room, and mark gone, mark my brother gone, and outside cold and
family estranged, and azure and i here in the warmth, and the
cold just beyond the glass, just over there, and so many many
storeys down, so many stories down and the cold, did i say that,
the cold just out of reaching, and the sound of gnawing at
bodies and stones, languages, and bleak horizons

did i say we were speaking softly, did i say so
